On Thursday, July 30, 2009, advocates for a Single Payer Healthcare system (Medicare Expanded for All) stormed Capitol HIll, in Washington, DC This date marks the 44th birthday of the Medicare program. Taxis circled Capitol Hill with "Single Payer" signs hanging from their windows; cup cakes and birthday cards were delivered by activists to each Congressional office; and rousing speech making took place at the Upper Senate Park, just south of the US Capitol. Mayor Sheila Dixon’s Views of “The Wire”

On Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, HBO's "The Wire" program celebrated its 5th and final season on the air. At the historic "Senator Theatre," in Baltimore, MD, a sidewalk square was dedicated (titled) to the show to mark the occasion. Sharing her views of "The Wire" program was the Hon. Sheila Dixon, Mayor of the City of Baltimore. Afterwards, a private screening of the first episode was held. |

PLaywright Eve Ensler: “A Filibuster Would End This War!”

The "Appeal for Redress" held a press conference, on Oct. 17, 2007, on Capitol Hill, in the Rayburn Building. The group of 2050 active duty military members is calling on the US Congress "to end the occupation of Iraq." It is also warning the Bush-Cheney Gang from "repeating the same mistake in Iran." White House Rejects Anti-Iraq War Resolutions

On July 31, 2007, Chicago City Alderman Joe Moore attempted to present over 300 Resolutions, adopted by cities, towns and states across the country, which demanded an end to the war in Iraq, to an official at a White House gate on Pennsylvania Ave. The request was denied by a White House functionary on dubious security grounds. Baltimore Colts’ Vets Bid Farewell to John F. Steadman

Steadman, a respected sports' scribe, at St. Jude's Shrine in Baltimore, MD.
