Mysore, Aug 15 : Royal welcome with armed salute was accorded to caparisoned elephants participating in the Dasara festivities, when they made a grand entry into the Mysore Palace grounds accompanied by the chanting of vedic hymns and invocation of divine benediction here today.

The Karnataka government has decided to set up a separate tourism authority for Mysore, famous for its tourist spots and the Dasara celebrations.

Mysore, Aug 13 : The first batch of six elephants started their journey-- 'Gajapayana'-- from Veeranahosahalli to take part in the famous nine-day Dasara festivities beginning here on September 19.
